NielsenIQ

Building SaaS dashboards that transformed consumer insights into growth strategies

Business Intelligence and analytics

NielsenIQ is a global leader in consumer and retail analytics, providing data-driven insights that help companies understand shopper behavior, optimize product strategies, and capture growth opportunities. By combining advanced analytics, technology, and market expertise, NielsenIQ enables some of the world’s largest consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands to make smarter business decisions.

Business Intelligence at NielsenIQ
At the core of NielsenIQ’s value proposition are Business Intelligence (BI) tools that transform massive datasets like such as point-of-sale data, shopper demographics, and store-level performance into intuitive dashboards and actionable insights. These platforms empower clients to segment markets, track performance in real time, and accelerate decisions that drive profitability and growth.

Most of my work is confidential but selected work details can be shared upon request or in personal calls.

Highlighted Project - Precision Areas
One of the flagship BI solutions I worked on was Precision Areas, a SaaS product built to help CPG clients like PepsiCo and Coca-Cola identify growth opportunities at a granular, regional level. By combining segmentation analytics with dynamic dashboards, Precision Areas revealed gaps in specific markets and enabled clients to create targeted marketing strategies, tailor promotions, and maximize return on investment.

My Role

At NielsenIQ, I served as a Software Engineering Lead, Product UI Lead, and Testing SME, which placed me at the intersection of product and engineering. I translated client and stakeholder requirements into technical solutions, guided UI/UX decisions to ensure intuitive dashboards, and set quality standards through testing and automation. These responsibilities reflect core product management functions: gathering requirements, prioritizing features, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering solutions that improved usability and adoption.

Highlighted Work & Impact

  • Launched three Business Intelligence SaaS products (Precision Areas, Store Segmentation, and Store Execution) delivering real-time consumer insights on large POS datasets to global CPG clients.

  • Achieved 15% faster time to market by running joint requirements sessions and sprint planning with product, UI/UX, and engineering.
  • Improved user experience by 20% and increased marketing profitability by enabling real-time insights on large consumer datasets.
  • Standardized charting across three products by leading evaluations, proofs of concept, and securing Highcharts adoption, which improved UI consistency, reduced maintenance, and accelerated dashboard delivery.
  • Strengthened platform reliability by raising code sonar coverage from 30% to 90%+, reducing QA incidents by 20%, and cutting mentoring time by 60% through automation standards and documentation.
  • Recognized internally as a Knowledge Leader in QA and functional testing.

Reflection

This experience highlighted the power of data storytelling and visualization in influencing strategic business decisions. Acting as both a technical lead and product-focused partner, I learned to balance client needs with technical feasibility, ensure usability at scale, and drive measurable adoption. It reinforced the importance of building with empathy and usability in mind, ensuring that dashboards were not just reporting tools but decision-making platforms for business growth.
